Last year 38 people were coached and gave rave reviews.

This year we are opening up 12 more coaching slots. . .

As Gandhi said, “Be the Change.” Create change not only for yourself but for kids in your community too. Last year, though donations from Participants, we raised $3400 for the YMCA. This year our goal is $7000. Will you help us? The money goes directly back into the community to teach kids to swim, send kids to day camp and offer afterschool enrichment to elementary school children

The 3rd Annual Coach-a-thon has two missions:

1) Provide professional coaching to individuals in the community who have not had opportunity or exposure* to the value of professional coaching.

2) Raise money for the YMCA Partners Campaign for the Harriett and Joe Foster Family YMCA through donations from the participants.

By supporting this campaign, you help guarantee that everyone regardless of their circumstances or ability to pay can benefit from the YMCA's values-centered programs.

Now more than ever, children and families need the YMCA's innovative programs and services. By donating, you join our efforts to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

An example of what the money does:

  • $80 puts a child in swimming lessons, soccer, basketball, dance or volleyball
  • $200 sends a child to day camp
  • $364 allows a low income senior citizen to participate at the YMCA for an entire year

We have some of the best and most generous coaches in Houston who are volunteering their time to provide coaching services.

*Anyone in the Houston area who’s interested in experiencing coaching is eligible, providing they do not currently have a coach and have not been in a coaching relationship in the last six months.

Coaching is complimentary,  however a donation is expected.

Coaching is available in person in Houston, Texas, from 8  a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 27th, at the Harriett and Joe Foster Family YMCA (formerly Northwest YMCA) , 1234 W. 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018

To qualify, individuals must register here.  Once registered, participants will be contacted by phone to verify eligibility, be assigned a coach, and confirm their complimentary session.

After the session, clients will be informed about the mission of the YMCA and asked to make a donation.  They will also have the opportunity to continue their relationship with their coach.
